| The Department of Social Welfare
aims to develop social welfare by cultivating social welfare
professionals who will contribute to preserving a happy lifestyle
for all citizens of society. The Department endeavors to not only
educate students on the theoretical and practical aspects of social
welfare, but also strives to resolve the various social problems we
face in modern society. Based on a balanced training through
learning of basic philosophies, theories, practical applications as
well as on-site experience, the Department of Social Welfare has
created curriculums which develop the academic and research
capabilities of students. |
Educational Goals |
| The Department of Social Welfare has the ultimate goal of cultivating professionals capable of establishing welfare services in regional societies following the enforcement of the welfare state and regionalization activities of the 21st century. |
- Cultivate individuals with the capabilities to resolve social problems by acquiring the knowledge and problem-consciousness necessary to academically investigate Social Welfare phenomenon.
- As social welfare professionals, cultivate students to possess the fundamental capabilities to resolve specific situations and issues arising in all social welfare domains, such as public administration and direct service provisions. The Department endeavors to cultivate leaders in all specific domains of social welfare through educating knowledge and response techniques for all social welfare domains.
- Cultivate social workers possessing forward-looking capabilities who understand, predict and respond to social change. |

Career Prospects |
Career Tracks upon Graduation
The career tracks for graduates of the Department of Social Welfare can be seen in largely three directions.
First, graduates can become employed as level 1 or 2 social workers at various social service organizations through state certification. The range of social service organizations is very diverse, including organizations specializing in child welfare, adolescent welfare,senior welfare, welfare for the disabled, women welfare, school social welfare, industrial welfare, medical social welfare, social welfare in mental health, etc. As a result, the opportunities for employment for graduates are abundant and still continue to increase.
Second, it is possible for graduates to become 7th grade or 9th grade public social workers. Particularly, the introduction of citizen participation policies as part of the administrative reform promoted by the government from the late 1990s has increased demand for social workers within cultural welfare. Such opportunities for employment at public organizations upon becoming certified social workers are expected to continue to increase.
Third, graduates can become employed at NGOs or become civil activists striving to resolve various issues of regional society. Within modern society where citizens continuous to express more participation and interest for regional issues and well-being, the demand for professional social welfare leaders capable of recognizing and effectively responding to such issues continues to increase. |
