Introduction of Department |
 |
|
Since its establishment alongside
the University of Incheon in 1979, the Department of Electronics
Engineering here at the University of Incheon has released numerous
graduates and continued its steady growth. As the University of
Incheon became a municipal university in 1994, the Department of
Electronics Engineering was provided with the foundation to develop
into a prestige university through acquisition of outstanding
faculty and students. Afterwards, the Department has steadily
developed by focusing on cultivating electronics engineering
resources and contributing to the social welfare and growth of
regional society.
To improve the substance of engineering education, our Department
has prepared for the ABEEK since 2004 while acquiring the NEXT for
the IT sector supported by the Ministry of Information and
Communication in 2006. In addition, our Department was selected as
an outstanding department in 2006 by the Korea Council for
University Education, demonstrating the high level of quality of our
education. Within the Department of Electronics Engineering, there
are currently 11 full time professors, 360 undergrad and 30 graduate
students active in education and research. Our Department is also
equipped with an outstanding educational environment, such as
technologically advanced classrooms with electronic blackboards and
beam projectors as well as laboratories equipped with various
advanced experimental and training equipment. In addition, the
undergraduate program of our Department is divided into three tracks
(micro-electronic engineering, telecommunication systems and
computer & electronic application systems). The consumer-oriented
courses of each track and track-based educational curriculums allow
students to acquire education and training for customized for each
industry sector. |

Prospects and Visions
Having become ABEEK Accredited as of January 2009, the Department of
Electronics Engineering has become furbished with a foundation to
cultivate future engineers and leaders possessing ‘specialized
knowledge and design capabilities’, ‘creative and problem-solving
capabilities’, ‘practical and application capabilities’ and ‘global
competitiveness and a sense of ethics’. In addition, with the
relocation to the Songdo New Campus and conversion into a National
University in 2009, the University of Incheon has been given the
opportunities to develop into a prestige university representing
Northeast Asia. Within such a situation, our Department will
continue our dedication to cultivating engineers with
future-oriented knowledge and international competitiveness.
